removing nocks?

does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove nocks from cedar arrows without staving up the shaft?i need to put some brighter nocks on.

Little bit of heat.....some guys use knives too. I usually heat the nock til it gets "shiney", then pull it off with pliers. You can use boiling water too from what I understand.

Dip the nock in boiling water for 10 to 15 seconds, then twist it off with pliers.

I just cut mine off with a small, sharp knife.

I use my propane torch on low, low, low and pull off with pliers or peel off gently with a knife.

I use a propane torch also, then pull off with pliers, using a twisting motion.  Works well, just don't hold them over the flame too long!!

I also use a knife. I use a serrated blade being very carefull to follow the taper. Frank

I wait until they break off... There is a tool available for cleaning up the nock taper, I got it from FS Discount Archery  http://fsdiscountarchery.com/  a looong time ago -- item number 145A in their sales catalog number 42. I don't know if they still have the item in stock, or where else it might be found, but it sure is slick for removing those tiny bits of plastic and glue.
