I started using this broadhead this year it is a great head it flys good an blows right through deer also it sharpens very well.this head has a nice large cutting edge.I would strongly recommend this head.It also comes at a good price.It is nice to pick up a head after it has been shot an hit it with a file an restore the edge with a stroke of a file.I have not experanced any tip curl,however I do want to tanto some tips to see what the results are.while also contiueing the use of some of those that are pointed.good luck, happy trails ED

I love the old school look of that broadhead. However, those barbs make that particular broadhead illegal to hunt with in some of the western states I'm familiar with.

I picked up a dozen just for fun and I love em. They sure tear up a 3D target upon removal tho!  I'm gonna hunt with them this year and see how they do.  I know that little Rada sharpener polishes em up to soul swallowing sharpness in about 3 short strokes.  

I don't think they'll replace my love for the Ace heads, though..

I have never had an issue with zwickeys (or any other head that has a triple thick point end) tip curling. I find that triple layer really holds up well to bone impacts. I have also found that tanto tips tend to skid off of bone.

My brother is using them and they are tops. Barbed heads are legal in 44 states. I know they're illegal in New York and Oregon.

They're illegal in Washington and Idaho as well.

I know why they are outlawed,its due to the barbs,however at a range of 20yds these heads are not hanging up on anything.they blow right through deer, if you put a bad shot on a animal with ANY broadhead the out come is the same-it stinks.check your local game laws to cover your butt.they are O.K in M.D

They are not  in the Great State of Texas..... and I do Really Like that Head. However, the Javelinas don't care much for it

I have some of these broadheads - I picked them up as a collectible since barbed broadheads are not legal here in MN.  
Really a bummer, especially since Cliff Zwickey's company has been located here building great quality broadheads for many years.  Just doesn't seem right that a guy who has made such a proven hunting head for so long, makes a special  signature head and it can't be used in his home state.
Well, maybe if I grouse about it to some of the DNR guys I know I can find out what might be involved in changing that.

I found this link to some archery site that has listed the state by state regs for broadheads.  It was correct for MN - I'm not sure if it is for all though. The info for some states is not very clear - possibly because this article was mainly interested in the legality of using mechanical broadheads. The article is current as of July 2012.

Regarding being illegal, that's only the "original" Zwickey.  The Deltas and Eskimos are 50 state legal as far as I know.

Yep, the broadhead referred to is the recently reintroduced version of the Cliff Zwickey barbed broadhead originally designed in 1939.

I have curled a head a couple times now!  Most recently last fall on a grizzly at 5 steps.

The head did its job and smacked the off side shoulder so complaining I am not.....I have shot the same eskimo's for 21 years and have no plans on changing!!!

I will say this...if you havent already, make it a point to stop by the shop!  I grew up not far from there and until last spring never stopped by...you wont regret it!  Funny I grew up biking right by the place...it took me living 3000 miles away to stop by!
