public hunting in Texas?

anyone do much public hunting in Texas?

I'm not on a lease so I'll be starting to hunt a couple of state tracts this year.
ASL's, Selfbows, and Wood Arra's

I'm new to Texas, where is there public land to hunt?  I'm in San Antonio...

East Texas Pineywoods, prolly a half millon acres or so of National Forest and Type 2 public hunting.

I work for the Union Pacific railroad. The guys I know go to the area around lake Amistad,they have cars at the away from home terminal
