black creek brace height
« on: September 22, 2012, 12:16:00 PM »
Hello all, this is my first post. The problem I'm having is the string on my bow is cutting into my limb where it comes out of the string groove. This is causing my strings to break. Two strings in five weeks. My bow is a black creek siren long bow 64" 55#@28" an my dl's around 30". I have been shooting it with the brace at 8". Does that sound right? An if so I was thinking of using a chainsaw file to smooth the string groove but not shure what to seal it with. Any help is appreciated.

Brace height on a Black Creek usally are alittle higher, check with the bowyer on his recommendations,he is a sponsor here and will help you out.My buddy's Black Creek he shoots it at 8".I've heard some guys shooting them at a lower brace height and they didn't perform as well as it shot at a higher brace.

I have a Black Creek Banshee (not a siren), but when I contacted the bowyer, he said the Banshee braces from 8 1/4" to 9".

Jim's a sponsor here. I'd go to his web site and send him an e-mail.

My Siren is 60" and braced at 7.25 to 7.50. Call Jim. He will help you.

Sounds like something else is going on. The last think I would do is take a file to it. Let us know how you make out.

yeah you need to CALL Jim,  he usually picks up asap and if he cant he will call right back.  He would definitely want to know about this situation and want to take care of it.

Mr. Jim got me fixed up. My problem was shooting too light an arrow at too low a brace height. He offered to fix it for me but explained how to do it if I wanted to. I got her fixed up an ready to shoot in the am. Thanks again Mr. Jim.

I'm very impressed with my little Banshee, but even more impressed with its maker. I have close friends who don't respond as fast to my e-mails as Jim did when I had a question.

Right now I'm trying to cut back on the number of bows, but if I was looking to add one, I'd definitely be looking at another Black Creek.
