Bear Razorhead Help

An old timer was nice enough to give me 6 old Bear Greenies. I'd like to shoot them out of my Grizzly this year. I need to get the weight up to 200 grains or at least as close as possible.If anyone could give me some info it would be a big help. Like what size screw in insert and weight of the head alone etc.Thanks,TonyZ.

Tony..all of mine weigh somewhere between 110 and 120gr without bleeders...None of mine are in new condition, all have been sharpened so some weight has been lost there. I'd say if you can get a 75gr insert and use the bleeders you should be right around 200gr or so...hope this helps

With a aluminum broadhead adapter and a converta point in the end of a aluminum arrow shaft and using the bleeder you would be around 190.  If memory serves me correctly.

Make sure they spin perfectly.  If you have wobble troubles it usually is from the bleeder indentations on the ferule.  A small file will reduce them a little on the inside.  And the bleeders will still work.

The ones I have average  about 112 grains, so I went with 100 grain adapters.  But, be aware that the longer 100 grain inserts will impede the installation of the bleeders.  To install the bleeders you must modify the inside point of the bleeder blades to get them to go in

As AWbowman says, you have to consider the bleeder if using it and the length of the insert you're using.  You could get short aluminum inserts (not as strong as a steel or as heavy) and you could use a brass insert if using carbon to get front end weight up.  I also used to hot melt flattened lead shot in the top of the ferrule before putting an aluminum insert in to get weight up.  If using carbon, you just need to look at shaft insert, point weight and insert weight and see what combination gets you to your goal.

Thanks guys. I ordered some short aluminum adapters from 3Rivers {32grains}. The head with the adapter and a 50 grain brass insert should get me within 5 grains or so of where I wanna be. The bleeders that came with the head are not in good shape so I'll be shooting them as a 2 blade. The steel adapters I had didn't seem to go all the way into the head and I couldn't find short steel ones hence the aluminum ones. Thanks again for all your help. Tony Z.
