Blind Use

A buddy of mine got a new blind and wanted to try it out.  We found a good spot, popped it up and sat.  We got busted by a deer coming in behind us and winding us.  

My question: Can we really expect to drop a blind and hunt it the same day? I thought no, but didn't want to deny the chance to sit with him at his request.  It's public land, so I think he's wary of leaving it set up - as he should be.

It can be done, but with deer you need to brush it in and leave the nets up in the windows; deer really to not like the black hole look of an open window.

also set up with the wind in your face and leave the back ziped up, except for a small peep hole.

Brush it in and be sure that you break the roof out line. I have done same day sets for years and have very little problems. Also remember the 50 yard rule..if you can see 50yards mostly unobstructed then do not brush it in as haevy as you would in heavier brush. It must look natural.   Jim Pyles

I think it depends a some on the pressure; it seems harder to hunt from the ground once they've bene shot at from a blind/location, no matter how artfully worked in.
