Made a couple of "killers" yesterday
« on: September 28, 2012, 12:57:00 PM »
I had a great afternoon yesterday.  I got to sit down with my long time friend and mentor Jack Walling in Camp, AR and do some long overdue catching up.  We knapped for about three hours.  I made the one on the left and he made the one on the right.  Mine is made of "boone" his is some nasty "crowley's ridge" chert.  He told me to knotch it the way I wanted to.
We made a couple other points and shot some bows.  Had a great time!

Well Done! Knapping is on my list of skills to learn, maybe this winter. I'd be very pleased with myself to be able to make heads like those someday.

Thanks guys.  One of the high points of my hunting life was taking a deer with a traditional bow and a flint knapped point a few years ago.

Those are awesome looking heads!  That's quite an art, and would take tons of patience to get your kind of results.  Thanks for sharing your picture!
