Granps (Shultz Old Fav) is Ready
« on: October 06, 2012, 10:54:00 AM »
Just picked this Shultz Old Favorite up a couple of weeks ago, it's a string follow natural Hill, Bamboo backed Yew, can't get more classic than that !!!
I am impressed to how well this bow shoots and it doesn't seem to mind heavy arrows. She is 70@27 but you wouldn't know it by drawing it. I scaled her and she is true to her words.
I sharpened up some Ribteks, mounted them on my purple heart footed Spruce woodies and I am ready for the hunt tomorrow.
You just have to admire the oldies but goodies !!!

There is a place for every bow, this one wasn't heavy enough for me so I traded it for one I could make heavy enough, a "Sirooco" I shortened to 63"s and it came alive for me at my short draw of 25" and she pulls 65#s and shoots carbons, woods and aluminum in the same spot out beyond 30 yards, tight groups 2 and 1/2 inches or less. Thanks Pete hope you have great success! Later Jacques

Awesome looking set up!

A back quiver and you're ready to head out to Sherwood to bring home some stag.

God bless,Mudd

I noticed that limb profile in an old pic of Howard shooting . See how stiff it is toward the fades and how it bends in the outer third. For its composition and string follow design that should make for a relatively fast bow with a quick limb return. That profile is what I used to base the design of my string follow. What a find Peter.  That sir is a real keeper.
God bless you , Steve

Peter , I don't know where I saw it at. I am thinking in one of the StickBows where there is a story about Florida yew or some such wood I have never heard of/ It is in the back of the mag. I will see if I can find it.

God bless, Steve
