Longbow quiver
« on: August 13, 2007, 11:43:00 AM »
I will be hunting with a longbow for the first time this year.. For years I used a bow quiver on recurves and the convience is great. But I've also used recurves with detachable quivers that I could take off the bow once in the stand.

So, I'm wanting a extremely light weight bow quiver for a longbow that will hold maybe 3 or 4 arrows. One that can be easily and quietly detached would be a plus.  BTW, this will be going on a 3 piece A&H so I suppose the limb bolts are an option..

Light weight and sturdy and the main requirements.

Any help would be appreciated !

Check out Eagle's Flight. They have models for three or four arrows, and they attach to the limbs with Velcro, so you can easily remove them. Once adjusted according to the directions, they're pretty solid. The broadhead cover is kinda small, though, so if you use large broadheads it could be a problem. The Boa small fry by Thunderhorn is a good one, but a little larger than the Eagle's Flight.

Thunderhorn Small-Fry is the best I've tried so far. It stays where you put it and looks great on the bow. As far as the weight I can't tell a great difference with mine on or off. Another fine looking quiver is the one's John Dill makes. I think he calls them Kaniti but don't quote me on that.

i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

I posted this on a recent topic about Selway Quivers:
"The Mini-3 (or mini-4) from 3Rivers does the job on my Border longbow. Very light and good value for money ($44.99 and $54.99 respectively). I use a single strip of bicycle inner tube wrapped around the limbs as anchor points for the rubber grips on the quiver"
No fancy brand names, but it works!

I've used the Great Northern for many years and am quite happy with it.  Be aware that arrow flight/tuning can change when you add or remove the quiver from your bow, esp longbows.  The heavier riser of the three piece may help you with this.

I'm new this year and have added a Thunderhorn Boa to my Savannah and love the extra weight.  I seem to shoot better with it on an full of arrows.  Seems to steady the bow.  I have the six arrow Tred Barta addition from 3Rivers Archery...it was a fathers day present from my kids.  Love it very much.

One thing to consider is the boa style allows you to switch bows and still use the same quiver since it is adjustable.
