A buddy and I are looking to plan a hunt next year. We are not looking for an outfitter hunt, but rather a "pay to access" hunt in a mid-west state. What we are looking for is quantity, not necessarily quality. Here's what I mean. We live in an area where the deer population is very low. We are both relatively new to trad - the last few years - and we just don't get many opportunities. Neither of us has released an arrow from our longbows at a deer but we are both proficient with our equipment and have taken many deer with wheel bows. We are willing to pay up to $1000 - $2000 for the hunt, not including licenses, room and board. And what we want is to have multiple opportunities. We are even good with taking does. Trophies are not a requirement, although that would be a nice bonus. We both have good legs and lungs so any level of difficulty is acceptable. Public land hunts are fine, but we would prefer private.

If you have any recommendations PM me. We would like to have something nailed down by early 2013 if we need to apply for tags that are not over the counter.

Again, looking for quantity so that we get 1 or 2 under our belt. Thanks for the recommendations!

We have an opening for Solana Ranch.  Jan of 2013.  Its a very target rich environment.  Total with License and travel and troply fees for bucks is around $2000.

There's 17 of us TradGangers lined up to go now.  If interested, do a search for the word Solana and make sure you select 'subject' only and you will get lots of threads for more info.

What state are you two from?  We might be able to get both of you in even though we have only one opening....I can make those arrangements.

I've never had the priveledge of meeting or hunting with Terry or any of this fine Gang, but you, Sirs, have just been offered an OPPORTUNITY that you really, really, really need to seriously consider.  

From what I've read about Solana, this is one of those places that memories, true friends and blood are etched into your soul. Your opportunity to learn about traditional bowhunting with these guys at this place and at this point in your trad journey will exponentially prepare you to experience far more in the future than you can now only imagine.

I had such a hunting/mentoring opportunity 20 years ago, but didn't think I could afford it. One of my worst regrets.

The Solana hunt sounds awesome. From fallowing the stories for several years I can say it would be an ideal hunt for you fellows. I would  go if it were in my means.

Terry, Great offer, and I truly appreciate it. I will be in Haiti on a mission trip for a good chunk of January, but it sounds like an awesome time. I have been in south Texas and would love to hunt there someday. Maybe another time.
