Does a sight on an old Bear decrease its value?

Yes, if it damages or modifies the bow from original condition.

I disagree. If it is a period or factory sight that is mounted correctly I doubt it would substantially effect the value. If it is not mounted flush or if they messed up and had to drill an additional hole it might though. What kind of sight is on it?

Is there any marking on that sight? It looks homemade, although it is a clever sight. Lots of older bows have holes drilled in them from sights and if it already has the holes I would prefer it also had the sight.

Looks like a well, but home made, rangefinder sight. Drilled and screwed into the glass face. (I believe)

The sight can be removed, and the holes plugged, and could be a good shoooter/hunting bow for years!!! But, as far as value goes... It's not a "collectable" bow anymore.

Years ago, folks did ALL kinds of things to their bows. Sight's, bowquivers, fishing reels, were all screwed onto bows in one place or another. They worked just fine that way, and they still will today! You just won't get anywhere near top dollar for it, unless the buyer is completely clueless... (and most collectors are not)

Truth be told most Bear stuff was mass produced and isn't extemely valuable anyway. However I still stand by my opinion that if it is a valuable piece a couple of sight holes will not effect its value because it is a pretty common feature.

I would still buy it. Love those bows.

FYI. Zebra grizzlys were only made for a couple years so it would be more valuable than some other grizzlies. 1964-1965 if i remember right.

Because it's a period sight and it appears to be all there I don't think it would hurt the value of the bow at all. You would just have to find a buyer who would think the same! Would it be my first choice....no, but if the price was right......
