Finger tab severe finger pain & blisters

I started shooting a three under cordovan leather tab and am getting severe pain and blisters. Anybody else ever experience this? I'm going back to a glove

Yes. Eventually they just turn into hard calluses. The trick is to use your middle and index finger more than you use your pointer. Helped me some.

Usually from my experience that means you're either torquing the string or putting more pressure on the fingers that are blistering. Usually its a tecnique issue

X2 what Austin said. I use a soft Damascus glove and shoot everyday a minimum of 2 doz arrows. I have no callouses on my fingers, so if they sting a little bit, I'm doing something wrong.

X3 Is your drawing elbow higher than the bottom of your ear? If it is, you are torqueing the string. If you have a callus on your ring finger, you are consistently torqueing or you are shooting a short bow

YES!! Your technique needs work. Get your string forearm, wrist and hand relaxed. A deep hook and relaxing your fingers for the release. Pain and blisters is archery's way of saying that you are not doing it correctly.
A good release will NOT cause ANY pain or blisters and certainly not calluses.

Agree with all above statements, but just to add something, is it a double layer of leather ? meaning a thin layer and then a thicker layer, or just one layer ? I use a Bateman cordovan glove, with two layers and love it, but I did have some issues with it at first.
Good luck.

When at full draw you should have a straight line form your drawing elbow to your bow hand. And your head, bowhand and drawing hand should all be canted to the same degree. See moebow's avatar picture for a good example.

I agree with all the above but if you want an even cleaner release once the form is down pat then try a calf hair three under tab. Oh and it's thicker and offers better finger protection IMO. Won't last as long tho but they're better than the Cordovan tabs at least for me

The problem I found when I looked for a corovan tab was that most were single thickness, the Bateman is made of Japanese cordovan, I think they are the originators of this. I have no problems at all with this tab when it comes to my fingers, but your FORM IS EVERYTHING !

Sounds like either your tab is too thin, you are holding the string with the tips of your fingers instead of using a deep hook, or alignment as mentioned above. Here are some pics that might help:

I have a deep hook at the first joint. Feels like tab is too thin. The pain is bruised feeling right at the joint creases in my middle and ring finger. I can't even shoot my bow right now because of how bruised it feels. The tab is the three rivers three under cordovan tab. I never had pain with my big shot glove...although it offers more protection
