Leave tomorrow morning for Anywhere?
« on: October 19, 2012, 09:23:00 PM »
Sitting here wishing I could hunt tomorrow instead of mow the grass....and a question came to my mind.  If you could pack your bow and boots tonight and leave tomorrow morning to hunt anywhere ....where would you go and to hunt for what?

This time of year? The Acoma Pueblo Indian Reservation in New Mexico for elk. In June it would have been the Save (pronounced "Saw-vay") Conservancy in Zimbabwe for cape buffalo. Expensive hunts, but really nice country, animals, accommodations and guides.

Those are both good.
Believe I'll go on a late season hunt to B.C. for mountain goats.

I've always wanted to try Kansas for a whitetail.

Never sat in a tree stand. quiet relaxing day, maybe 1/4 to half mile walk in the morning to the stand.  Reading a book, listen etc... maybe even have lunch with a friend and go over stand for the evening.  Then shoot a feeding doe with a 45# bow, celebrate with a Micro brew and a few laughs and tuck in by 10.

I've never hunted anything like that, would like to give her a roll.  Especially right now, when I cant seem to sit still long enough to know I'm still breathing.

Dan.....that sounds like my typical fall weekend.  I've hunted with the same trad buddy for 20 years.  Most of our hunts almost mirror that.  Funny how when we live it we sometimes take it for granted.  I find myself longing for more high country adventure.  Thanks for reminding me how special my slow paced fall mornings on stand are.

Fort Campbell KY so I could walk the woods with a bow in hand alongside my son looking for anything from dirt clods to Whitetails.

In a Cypress swamp, somewhere in the south, chasing hogs.

I am pretty content hunting Whitetail here on my little place in my beautiful home state of WV. But I have always wanted to deer hunt the mid-west for deer or the Yukon for moose.
