Is it just me, or the Pre Rut in KY red hot now!
« on: October 22, 2012, 11:56:00 PM »
This past weekend and the one before was in the woods a lot hunting. Weekend before last took a 13 year old 4H'er hunting in rifle youth season, and found all kinds of scrapes, rubs, red hot! This weekend was ML season, and while hunting same general area, one big  holler with 5 fingers running into it, I found a total of 35 scrapes, twice that many rubs. This is the kind of activity usually found in first 2 weeks of Nov. hereabouts, I believe all the rut forecasts are gonna miss it bad, rut will be about over when 11-10-12 rifle season rolls around. Called up several of my buddies tonight, they are seeing the same thing,we are gonna hit the woods hard next week or so, will be hottest time this year, I believe. I found a scrape in my back field, by my greens/food plot, made yesterday between 11 am and 1pm, hot stinking, smelled it before I saw it. Everything here this year, spring, hay, fruit trees, and garden has been a month early, rut seems to follow that also. What have you guys been seeing.

It's the same way in my part of Georgia. I spent the last three days in the woods. I got to watch scrapes being made and does being chased. The does aren't ready but the bucks sure are! A buddy of mine was down from South Carolina and he said everything is running a couple of weeks early there also!

Southern Ohio things heating up seeing bucks showing up in hay fields and just being more visible. Scrapes popping up all over fresh ones with grass not completely removed yet. Saw alot of does last Saturday all feedig on acorns. It being harassed yet. Good time to be in woods with bucks ready and does not

Sam,I can't see that it's any different than it has been the past.Seem to be right on schedule..Been seeing lot of new bucks show up almost daily..I think the first week of Nov is gonna be good if we get some cooler weather for some daytime chasing...had a 13"-14" 8 point check a scrape this morning 15 minutes after daylight,I haven't pulled the card in my camera yet but should be a pict of him hitting the scrape & me in the treestand behind him.lol..I'm on vacation for a couple weeks & hope to get after them hard.....Good luck to ya..
