Question for Griffin longbow shooters
« on: October 23, 2012, 09:56:00 PM »
I'm looking for some specific info from anyone who shoots a forward handle (Shrew-type) Griffin longbow.  I'm looking at the 60" bow listed in the classifieds right now and want to know if it will handle my 32.5" draw.  What think ye?  Any other long armed knuckle draggers shoot one of these length Griffins?

I've tried calling John McCullough a few times but have only gotten his answering machine.

Thanks.

Thats a long draw, you might do better with a 64" Griffin.Even though they are a forward handle bow you have a very long draw.My buddy draws about 29" and he prefers a 64" Griffin.I think a 60" may stack on you.

I have a 62",I honestly think even that would be pushing it,would definately go 64 or even 66.

I think i would be looking for a 64".I draw about 30 inches and have had about 8 griffins. The 60 inchers work for me me fine.I like the 64" alot.At 32.5 inches though I think the 64 inch one would be the ticket.
I cant say for sure though as I dont draw 32.5.,holy cow.A really long draw like that is amazingly powerful but it can limit bow length choices.I usually go for the longer bow.
You might run a Wanted Classified add looking for a 64" Griffin if you want one.The one for sale thats 60" looks nice.Maybe you could crunch your draw up shorter and it would work for you LOL.

Thanks for the input.  I was already thinking that it was a little short, but wanted confirmation one way or the other.  It is a nice looking bow!

I have six McCullough Griffins and they are all fine shooters @ 28 to 29 inch draw length for 60 inch bows. I think that you should talk to john about your draw length before you purchase the bow.John's home telephone number is 517-626-6365. He lives in DeWitt, Michigan. He may have been out hunting when you called

I've had that same conversation with John in the past. I draw 30" and at a 32.5" draw length definitely 64". John will tell you the same thing he told me, "I wouldn't recommend going past 30" with a 60" bow". I have several 60"s and two 64"s. Without a doubt 64". You see 60"s in the classifieds every now and then but rarely a 64". One of my 64"s was purchased new from John and the other in the classifieds after about three years of watching for one in the right weight.
