Is it worth it bam boo
« on: August 14, 2007, 01:29:00 AM »
As you see by the title the bamboo split that  I was steaming before it was flat enough to be used as an one piece backing. So here's my thought sand until thickness 1/16  get the split edges squared off  then take Black Walnut 30 * 3/8 * 1/16  lay BW in the center of the bamdoo glue to ash lam. 30* 2 * 3/32  Second part of question before or after bending ash

Sounds like you are planing to use two strips side by side the length of your bow? If this is your intention the answer is yes, it will work. Ben Pearson ,for one, use to do bows this way. Get the bamboo thin and apply to your bows back as soon as it is in the shape you want.

Reformed,

Are you trying to flatten your bamboo by steaming it?
