Deer movement and warm weather....?

I hear ya Ron...I'm questioning whether or not I should go tomorrow...gonna be mid-60s and I know from prior experience I'm wasting my time...then again...its still a day in the field as opposed to the office...

I think warm or not I'll give it a go.....Maybe something different...a mid day still hunt. I can wear my camo shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.....!

Down here, archery season means hot. I have hunted many times when the temp was in the 90's. The deer do acclimate, but they still don't move as much as they do later in the year when the temps go down. Our rifle season opens in October, and I have always noticed much more activity then as compared to September archery opener. I'm sure some of it has to do with the number of people in the woods, but temp is surely a factor also. It is a factor with me too. I hunt only with the bow but I go afield more in the cool of rifle season. However, don't automatically assume that it is a waste of time to hunt the warmer days.

Up here in Northern Mi it has been 60s to 70s and wet most of the week, deer movement has been at a standstill, although coyotes seem to be real active in the late PM! I was seeing deer movemnet all last week but nothing at all this week suppose to cool off this weekend hopefully the rut will kick in soon!

In the northern half of the US the deer have their winter coat grown by the first of October.  Would you want to be running around with all of your winter clothes on when the temp is over 60?  I know I would not.

When I lived in Alabama it seemed I always started seeing more deer movement when the temp were in the upper 70s.

So I decided to go today in spite of the warm weather and have a look around..it was a perfect day to still hunt along the trails as the ground was wet. It was warm but ovecsast the whole day so it was bearable..came across some half-hearted scrapes in an are I like to post that's not to far from the logging road..but that's about all for today...sign was pretty scarce and the woods were quiet..hopefully next week will be colder..

All in all...it was a nice day to be in the woods...and I'll take that anytime..

I was going to put up a loc on and hunt a spot this afternoon. Got in there bout 300yds from the area and was sweating so bad I just dropped the stand off..covered it, took my shirt off and walked back out without a shirt on.

Cold front moving in Fri. night for about a wk anyway and may pick things up.

I hear ya Ron.
Been kind of slow with warm weather.

I did see a small buck today come into the apple trees.
He was clearly nervous and sensed my presence, probably from when I entered the stand. He stood around a few minutes and left.
Could see 2 forks but not close enough to see if he had any brow tines.
Only other activity were squirrels and a porcupine.

Tomorrow I try again.

no matter then temperature, the deer are still in the woods, and you can't stick one unless you get into the woods too.  That said, I usually start walking out when the sweat starts dripping onto my glasses. I hate that.
