wensel woodsmans-filed or honed?

Question for woodsman users...do you prefer a filed edge or a honed edge? I read some more of Dr. Asbey's testing and he found that a honed edge gave more penetration (he was using buffalo hides). Magnus recommends using the "wire-edge" left by filing. Which do ya'll prefer?

I file with very light pressure after the initial sharpening.

I file them, ending up with very light strokes to produce as fine a wire or bur as possible. Then I remove the bur with a ceramic stick. A wire edge feels, and is, very sharp, but it is also very weak and breaks off quickly. It's not the edge I want.

HI Guys,
I go from 14" file to a fine Arkansas, to a big wooden block with thick leather glued to it. When they come off that leather strop ya better be careful !!! I have never been able to get anything as sharp as a WW, not even a knife !

I just use a good file.
I'm just trying to kill stuff - not shave it.

Well said Denny! A file's good enough for me.
I never really understood the thing about edge retention for a broadhead either. Surely it only has to be sharp once???
