Mom and I drove up to the cabin on Friday evening, Kirby got there a little later. Kirby and I hunted Saturday and Sunday. Not much going on in D7 zone here in Calif. A bit on the warm side. 80 at the cabin, 5500 feet elevation. We hunted between 7000 and 7500 feet and it was about 70 degrees.I was up around 9000 feet yesterday and it was probably in the mid to high 60's. Only saw a few does and 1 spike buck. I am going to try it again in a few weeks.
Kirby and I did have a "pine cone 3D" on saturday evening, using flu flu's with blunts. Pick a pine cone laying on the ground, 2 arrows each. Great fun!
Before leaving yesterday I spent several hours with mom picking wild Elderberries and Gooseberries. She makes delicious jelly from them.
We had a good time in some beautiful country, and as usual ate to much good food. Jim.

Pennsylvania doe only archery season in special regs. areas opens September 15th.  General archery season for either sex opens September 29th.  This is the first year of a doe only archery season before the general either sex archery season.

I'll be hunting with Snuffers riding on Beman MFX Classics.  Will be using a Fedora 560 one piece or my new Fedora 560 T/D.  Both bows are  53# and shooting the same arrow.

When did it close?
Squirrel opens Aug 1st in Illinois and runs through mid Feb.
Then there's yote's to hunt, and fish, and turkeys, then groundhogs. Then it's squirrel season again!

Oh yeah, we hunt deer in the fall, too.

You guys should live in Illinois.  :D

Never ends for me. Yotes are 365 day or night (except during the deer firearm season. Day only.) Gives me an excuse to hunt, even if I'm not really hunting. (scouting, stumping etc.)
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
