DAS Longbow Questions
« on: November 08, 2012, 04:59:00 PM »
I have been too quiet on here lately, due to too much work and not enough play, so I've been thinking I should change that some. I've got a DAS recurve that I killed a small doe with last year, but I've come to realise the longbow is where its at for me. So my question is, does anyone know how nice the DAS longbow limbs are? I don't want to spend a ton of money on something I'm not  going to be happy with, so I'm asking for opinions. Any and all count. Thanks in advance.

The DAS LB limbs are made by Jim Belcher I believe and he is a master of the craft so I'm going to assume they must be good.

Yes, Belcher makes the limbs for 3 rivers, including the longbow limbs.I purchased a set of dalaa carbon foam LB limbs and have put them to the test for the past couple months, here's my take.
Mine are 45# med limbs making a 60" bow with the 17" dalaa riser. My draw is 29" so I'm pulling #48. The limbs are smooth drawing with no noticeable stacking. The limbs are as fast as advertised. I shoot a 500gr arrow at 173fps. The  negative is I find the limbs after the shot are harsh (hand shock), and somewhat noisy. Don't think the first I can solve but still working on the noise. These limbs were $459 the wood carbon limbs are $299. I think the wood carbon are less harsh and quieter than the carbon foam based on the recurve limbs (I own) from the same maker which are wood/carbon. They are also 5+ fps slower. Hope this helps. My limbs and riser are in the lost camo, which are nice but I actually prefer the natural gear camo but its currently not offered.
One more thing the LB limbs in both carbon/foam and wood/carbon are quieter than their recurve counterparts, and I have found no difference in the speed, recurve vs longbow limbs.

I bought 45# Sky carbon/foam longbows directly from Jim. This was my first limb purchase with the foam core. I love the foam core, and their the smooths limbs I've drawn with carbon, there also very quick. I have my limbs on a 19.5" Hoyt TD3 warfed riser, and it really shots nice.

I will defiantly buy foam core again in the future. If I was going to buy limbs again, I would have Jim custom make them to my specific draw a weight, and then order the riser you want.

Check out Sky Archer's face book page, I posted pics and a review.

There is literally a world of limb choices for the ilf /das setups. I would  look at Dryad, Morrison, Belcher and just google lif limbs and there will be plenty to choose from very easy to switch fittings.
