Pro's and Con's on this grip would be appreciated...I have never been much of a longbow shooter...always recurves and compounds in the past. Looking at bow with the Asbell grip.

I like mine... I think that if you plan on shooting the way he shows in his book, that grip make sense, and plus I have pretty big hands, so that grip fit my hand great!

Love em.  Some of the original Bighorn recurves had very nice grips.  As far as the Widows go...that would be my chice with a low wrist.

I can't stand the standard BW grip...I wish more people would order them so when I find a nice BW in the classys it'd have one!The standard grip is like holding a hatchet head to me.

I tried the Asbell grip and after about a year decided it wasn't for me. I sent mine in and had it ground down to the standard grip. Shake Fred's hand and you'll notice he has pretty big hands. Mine are quite a bit smaller and I think that may be a factor.

I've had two widows with he Asbell grip, and really like them.  I also have one with the standard grip. I like them both, but prefer the Asbell.

It is really a matter of personal preference. I have shot them both and really like the feel of the Asbel grip. I have medium size hands.

X2 on the Asbell grip.  I have two and much prefer them over standard. Like the poster above said, it's a personal preference thing though.  I tend to have large hands.

Hi again, Jerry!

I like the Asbell, and I have medium-sized hands.  I am just fine with the BW standard grip, but I think I like the Asbell more, and if I were to order another new bow from them, I'd go with it.

I wear a size Large glove.  I like the Asbell grip.  I don't like when that feather nails the meaty part of your hand between the thumb and index finger.  I wonder if grip makes a difference in that scenario.

When I was at the Black Widow shooting clinic, I shot just about every combination of grip/bow they have. The Asbell grip works FOR ME......when I order a BW it will have that grip.

That said....grips are so personal. Don't force yourself to like a grip because you think you should. Try as many styles as you can.

I debated on getting a high wrist grip on my first (and only) custom bow, a 1991 Bighorn. I shot a friends Zipper with a high wrist grip and decided it wouldn't work for me. I ordered my bow with a medium wrist grip and loved it.

I should add that I too have large hands, XL glove or better, and need the real-estate on the grip simply so my hand fits into the grip un-crowded and comfortably.  I like the contour of the Asbell grip as well, regardless of my hand size,  they just seem natural and conducive to a repeatable, consistent hold.  On average, I would call them a low/medium wrist, but certainly could be made to order with any wrist height.

I shoot the asbell grip well however,  It is by far my least favorite grip that I have ever felt on any bow.  I have had all three and the Low is the only one for me.  Unfortunately no one call tell you your just going to hve to try it out.

I like the standard grip my self, i grip the bow with my pinky and ring finger folded under and the index and traffic finger rapped around the riser and a thicker grip just doesn't feel right. Just my personal preference.

I have had both, smaller hands=standard grip, larger hands=Asbell grip. I prefer the standard grip.

Tall Tines grip on their recurve reminds me of the Asbell grip a good bit. I like it because it is easy for my to fold my bottom two fingers back to avoid torqing the bow.
