Just Another Reminder

You are probably getting tired of hearing this but too many are getting hurt. Guys and gals, there are way too many of us not practicing good treestand safety. A couple days ago friend fell while attaching his harness after reaching hunting height. He was life flighted to a hospital in StLouis,MO with his back broken in 5, yes that is FIVE places. His prognosis is unknown but cannot be good.

Just this morning another acquaintance fell and was life flighted to a hospital in Evansville,IN. I don't know the extent of his injurys but they are bad or he would have been treated here at a local hospital. Please use a good harness and stay attached at all times with a prussic knot or other approved method. Your families deserve for you to be around longer.
Time spent alone in the woods puts you closer to God.

"Can't" never accomplished anything.

I've been wearing mine Bill.  I really like doing this stuff and would like to be doing it for a long, long time.

Thanks for yet another reminder, Bill. We can't hear too much encouragement to engage in safe behavior when climbing to heights that put our very lives in danger. The tragic events you describe happen every day during hunting seasons, all across this nation, and serve as a constant reminder that our families, friends and others who love and depend on us deserve our every effort to protect our own well-being, even if we don't care enough about ourselves to do so.

Good reminder Bill!

I never used a belt while climbing and just waited until I was up in the stand.  A few years ago, I fell about 10 feet but was not badly injured.  It was enough of a wake-up call to make me think safety EVERY time I start to climb.

Unfortunately, it will take an accident before some folks get the message.

Glad to hear it Nate! Seems as if every year at this time one or more of our local people have a serious accident. I have one close friend that simply refuses to wear a harness. He has never fully explained why except to say it is too much trouble.
