Quality time with my son
« on: November 11, 2012, 05:17:00 PM »
Talked my 6yr old into sitting with me tonight. We only made it about an hour, but it was great to see his reaction when we got in the stands 20ft up. He thought it was great, I gave him a grunt call and let him go to work. He thought every noise was the big one coming in only to be disappointed to see a tree rat. Getting down was a bit shacky but we made it and he couldn't Waite to tell his mom about his first hunt.

Cool deal! Be careful with the little guy though, in 20" high stands.

I wish somebody had got me started hunting when I was 6yrs old!

Good Deal!  Keep him hunting!
I started taking my son when he was about 5 yrs. old.  Made a harness to fit him, and tied him onthe stand between my feet.  We had a blast.  Never got a shot, but saw deer.  Nothing as exciting as when your 5 yo son looks up and hollers "DADDY>>>>THERE'S A DEER"!
Now he's a Sgt. US Army in Afghanistan.  Wish he were in the woods with me.
Keep 'em huntin'!

Awesome! Good job McGeeM!    :clapper:   JAG, Thank you for raising a vet. Without him and his comrades we would not be able to enjoy our freedoms. Happy Veterans day and God Bless.

Thanks guys.
Monday morning I got a text from my wife saying Dane came down stairs crying, because I didn't wake him to go with me. It difficult trying to explain to him he was not ready to climb into the stand in the dark.
The rain wasn't going to hold him back that evening though. He can't Waite for the next time.

I remember my grandpa waking me up to go fishing on the boat with him. He always let me drive the boat home. I had a great time with him.

Those are the times your son will remember forever.

Enjoy every outing with him, because those days go by quickly. Take lots of photos, too. They'll be priceless in years to come.
