Bucks really active for last 2 days.
Scraps and rubs showing up overnight.
I built a dandy brush blind.
Hope to get a shot.

Someone please tell me where, in my part of Western PA, the "switch" is located...I'd like to flip it!  Dead...dead...dead here.  Last day so heading over to OH in a couple days.  Hope the switch stays on.      :dunno:

Good luck Slickhead!

Still seems pretty dead here in S.C....not much of anything moving while I am out there. 70 degree days and 35 degree nights might have something to do with it...who knows?

Not a lot of action down here either. Maybe the cold front will help us too.

Just got back from camping/hunting for four days.  Spent a lot of time walking looking for any buck sign.  I set up one afternoon but a small scrap and rub.  Seen a deer coming in and he couldn't have been more louder if it was a person walking and kicking leaves and sticks.  It was too dark to see if it was a buck or not I could just make out a body.  I had a inflatable decoy set up called Ms. November.  They look great if nobody knows what Im talking about.  I had a can call and I started flipping it.  He locked up and started looking hard.  My decoy had her butt toward him and it was almost dark so he couldn't see it.  He never came in close enough for me to get a good look at him.  I was coming back there the next morning so I just left everything where it was includeing three sent wicks.  Came back the next morning and didn't see any deer but looked around a bit when I came down and sometime over the night there had been three scrapes made where I as hunting and four about ten more in the area along with a lot of rubs.  I don't know if leaving the esterus scent out got him fired up or what but that is the only scraps I have found here and wow does he have a big foot.

Saw 4 bucks from 11:00am to 3:00pm. 3 were Pope and Young class. Almost on the biggest (140's at least, real high long points at least 10 and wide, medium mass) but couldn't get an arrow through to him. He was a young deer..big, but real young face and timid acting when I grunted.

He came out at 3:00pm at about 50yds and was heading right down towards me on an angle to get downwind. I grunted at him to try and get him to turn right and he did a little, but then stopped at a scrape, pawed it a few times, did the antler thing in the branches a while, then started back towards downwind again. Went into some thick greenbrair and I had no opening for shot. Bout 25yds was the closest he got and eventually got my wind then loped off.

He went right towards where I got my Lone Wolf Hand Climber stashed and am planning on hunting in the morning. Maybe get another chance at him.

Bucks moving in SE Ohio even in the warm weather. Watched several bucks chasing does in the field by my work today. So they are chasing hard in North Central Ohio as well. I think Ohio is in full swing now. Seeing lots of dead deer on the highway too. Thast just started this last few days. If I didn't already have my buck tag filled, I would being going nuts having to work right now!

Went back in this morning and hunted about 300yds up from where I saw the bucks yesterday. To make a real long story short..I was covered up in very big bucks from right after daylight till about noon. All from 18yds to 3yds and I didn't get a shot.

It was 3 bucks and the biggest one from yesterday got to withing 3 yds. Also found out why he acted timid to a grunt call yesterday. The big boy came by this morning. Got to within 12yds and as I started to draw he did a 90 before going into an opening. The smallest was about 130" 10pt or so.

Very thick in there with only a couple of climbable trees. Will try them again in the morning..only one saw or smelt me..the one at 3 yds looked up and saw me and bolted back where it came from about 25yds, stopped, looked back towards me, flicked it's tail, then walked around me. Didn't act too spooked.

Gun season comes in Fri..so time is short before things take a big change.
