Spine question???
«

I'm a wood arrow nut, truly a basket case about woodies. That said, many years ago Jack Howard convinced me to try some 2114 aluminum arrows. Wonderful arrows!! My silly question is:
How does the spine of a 2114 compare to the spine of wood?
2114 = 50/55?
2114 = 55/60?
2114 = 60/65?
You get picture?

Ric according to some charts for spine of 2114 the length of your arrow used would be needed for a range in spine. I really prefer woodies also but finding them long enough at least 33" is a task in itself let alone in a specific spine range. Eg. with a modern longbow (the cam used) with a 125 grain head a 2114 at 29" would range from 59# to 64# according to E##t**s chart.

Ric,
I just checked the spine of some 2115's and they translate to 70# spine.

A 2114 spined the same way as wood (2# weight on 26" centers) is .410 deflection. That is a 63.4# spine rating. So roughly equivalent to 60-65# wood. Just be advised that the oscillation rate for aluminum is different than wood so they won't be EXACTLY the same.

Thanks for the info guys. All my 2114's are cut 29" from the throat of the nock to BOP. 145g point with standard aluminum 25gr. insert. They are also internally weighted with foam giving me a total weight of 530 gr.

Ric, I am pretty sure on the how to section there is a really good conversion scale, and it also has diameters for each size(footing help)
