Couple mpre questions
« on: November 26, 2012, 10:18:00 AM »
I've taken most of the advice from everyone on here and looked a little closer to the Bear recurves for my first trad bow. I also saw a thread speaking highly of Rocky Mountain Specialty gear and I've been looking at their bows online...

My only thing about a Bear bow is the riser and handle looks so thick? Is this true or is it maybe the picture kind of misleading?

Also, anyone have any experience with the "Alaskan"?

Thanks

Hey Jake, Pictures can be decieving. You really need to get someplace and handle a few bows. Its the only way you can see for sure. Find a model you like then find a used one on here or at RMSG. You can give Tom a call in Denver too, he will give you measurements or whatever you need. The Alaskan is a fine bow.

RMSG has a lot of bows on the wall both new and used.  If you see some on line on their site that you want a direct opinion on, let me know.  They are close to me an I go by their every now and then.  I'd take a look at them for you and report back.

thanks guys... I was really trying to like the bears (whish I still might, just never shot one)

But I was browsing through their bows and you know that funny feeling you get when, pretty much something just comes together?

I think I found a bow... I saw a Ben Pearson Hunter in their inventory, and man to me, its looks exactly what I was trying to picture for my first bow. I emailed him right away and even started looking on the big auction site, and saw they make a Mustang model too. I'm "googling" the tar out of both and pretty much can't find any negative feedback other then their CHEAP! lol.

Just to make the whole sha-bang better, My FIRST ever archery kill AND first buck kill... was a Ben Pearson compound about 7 years ago on a little 6 point. Man, just thinking about it brings goosebumps to my arms...

Those were the days... I didn't know anything about archery, my whole family was gun hunters. The only reason I picked it up was beacuse a highschool buddy wanted to try bowfishin, so we bought a couple goofy/poor quality bows and I was hooked since...

Can anyone give me any feedback on either model of the Pearsons?

Also, when using the search bar... Is it better to use exact words or "any matched", becasue I seem to have a hard time finding any older threads on topics I try to search.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help!
