just get back from two weeks in Africa. i wore my Sitka gear pants the entire time. i put them through a serious test and they came out with flying colors. other than a few pulled threads

i will be singing Sitka Gear's praises. it's by far the best camo clothing i have used in my 30 years of bowhunting bar none.

if anyone is wondering if this material can stand up to the test, well it's almost bullet proof.

Just one question though.... with Denny Strugis on the staff, are they going to come up with a sleeveless version for those huge cannons he's got?

Dang it I hope he hasn't cut those sleeves off yet.

My kids play soccer and the gals have these nifty little velcro straps that go from the neck to the sleeve and turn the soccer jerseys from short sleeve to sleeveless.

I bought a handful of those for Denny and was planning on sending him them for his birthday next week.

Happy Birthday Big Guy!   :knothead:   Go easy on the bloopers.

elk ninja, LOL - Peter is correct - I cut the arms off a Summit Zip-T. It really bothered me for a little while. I'm going to push for a Sitka safari line - sleeveless Ts and shorts or zip off legs for tropical hunts. 90 to 100+ degrees.   :)  Fat guys sweat a lot!!

Larry, I saved the sleeves! They are way too nice to throw away. Don't worry about the outtakes. We won't put the one part in where you and Ty Pelfrey ......... LOL

Peter, I ran down to 3Rivers Archery today and bought a few pieces of gear for the blacktail hunt. We are leaving early monday morning. Can't wait.

HA!  I wish I was as fat as you Denny.  Have a great hunt and take lots of pictures.  Hope you can make it to the PBS Banquet in Pittsburgh in March.  What a great place for a Sitka Gear booth...

What is the temperature range of the various Sitka Gear products?  I'm guessing that in Africa you'd be wearing the mountain pant, and a summit T-shirt?  And that for whitetail hunting in freezing November you'd be normally wearing the 90% jacket and pants, vest, and summit bottoms?

Denny is about 60 lbs short of being in the heavyweight ranks.
I think I can take him........

Big Man, I've already added on an additional layer of blubber for those long treestand vigils this fall and winter.  Only problem is it's still 90 here and I don't need any more tonnage to haul around.  But in reality I'm not overweight, I'm just undertall.  Do you think they make Sitka gear shorts?

Just got back from a "bou-less" hunt in Quebec and saw the post.  And yes, "Brain" could not be farther from the truth.

Unfortunately, the 8 of us in camp never even saw one.  I'll head back up in 09 and see how my luck plays out.  We hunted with Tuttulik and the camps, etc. were great, the animals were just late getting there.  Thats hunting.  I did get some good pics of a wolf and caught some huge brooks.

Folks, I'm humbled to be a part of this crew, and was impressed from the get-go by Sitka's views on their mission, hunting, and their plans and stringent requirements for their Pro Staff.  Warrior (p. 3) has the company and those of us on their staff pegged wrong.  I don't feel it's an ego thing for any of us; it's certainly not for me.  In fact, the vibe I get from Sitka is to leave our egos at the door.

I believe in the product and many bowhunters who have been exposed to their line are impressed as well.   My brother manages a Scheels store in Lincoln, NE and says early response among serious hunters has outstripped expectations.

To be quite honest with you, I'm also humbled to be part of TradGang and *********** MOST of the time as well.  It's neat to associate with others who share the same interests and can come to a place such as this to hash things out, ask for help, play philosopher, etc.  A very small pct. of those here are mean-spirited; the rest seem to be here for the right reasons.

Maybe Pro Staff isn't the most accurate label, I don't know.  But 'Pro' is what you read into it.  I'm a PBS Regular and some have taken shots at that organization (incl. the 'Professional' in their name).  I've always felt it simply meant we members were to act especially professional (proper, ethical) in the field and be good ambassadors for our sport.
