First lite asat camo.
« on: November 27, 2012, 10:45:00 PM »
Got my first lite in today. Its asat camo and very nice. I ended up ordering one size larger than normal and wouldn't of had to. This asat seems to be a great pattern. Now to get out and try it!

Posting pics of yourself is the bathroom is normally frowned upon, but I like the looks of that camo!  :biglaugh:

I LOVE ASAT! That outfit you have there looks awesome.

I have some non-insulated ASAT coveralls that I purposely bought too large that I wear over everything and it rocks!

You said you got your stuff too large. At least you can wear it over your warmer stuff when it gets cold and that should work out real well.

I'm interested in this product, especially the base layers. What is the durability like on the base layers? Is it something that is going to get torn up in the brush right away? My problem is that on my hunts the temps are cold in the mornig and evening but heat up a lot during the day so I'd like to be able to shed down to a base layer that I can hunt in.

I got some microweight Smartwool merino tops. They work good as baselayers, but if I shed down to just that layer and hunt in that they get torn up FAST! and for $65 or whatever a shirt, I can't afford it.

How is the firstlite in terms of durability? Anyone try the "Llano Crew"? Will it get torn up fast? Or will it last?

I would get the pants, and then just take off the Smartwool underlayer as the day goes on.  They have a rip stop sewn into them.  The regular merino can't handle the briars, but these can.  Not sure about shirts though...

Oh, and the midweight smartwool underwear is stinkin awesome.

Agreed about the smartwool underwear and smartwool in general. Luckily my girlfriend's job gets great discounts on Smartwool...If only she could get discounts on this First Lite stuff...Those ripstop pants look sweet! I never heard of ripstop woven wool before! That's like a dream come true if it works!

The ripstop works pretty well.  Better than I expected.  The regular merino wool is decimated by thorns though.

If you keep an eye on their web site you can pick up last years line at up to half off the normal prices. First lite is great if it's warm or your moving. Not so great if you want to sit all day in the cold. It's really thin and even with wool long underwear not the best for a long cold sit in a tree. It is tough and wind proof though. The only rip I got was from barbed wire and it didn't go clean through to the skin like it would if I had cotten pants on. A little super glue fixed up. Wish they made a heavier pair of pants is the only thing.

First Lite is first class. You have done well Fastltz! First Lite has combined 2 of the best things I like in my hunting clothes...ASAT camo and merino wool.  I have just about everything they offer. They are coming out with a line of cold weather gear that is in testing now.  I too have a pr of oversized coveralls in ASAT made in cotton because I cannot find coveralls in any other material in ASAT camo that I wear over my first Lite and other ASAT stuff to stay warm.  Day One makes good ASAT too.

I just wear the ASAT 3-D leafy over my warm tough as nails wool clothes, l had a yote 3 feet away from me and it never noticed I was sitting right in front of him, unfortunately I screwed up the  shot when I finally got the shot.

Good luck with yours.

I checked out their website and almost all my sizes were sold out in ASAT and Max-1!!! Looks like people have been buying all their inventory!

I really want to try the pants and the llano shirt.

I'm working on a Jan., late season layering system and have just about decided on First Lite Labrador Merino Wool Zip Up Sweater in Asat. The only thing I don't really like about it from the pictures are the bright solid color of the cuffs. I will use it as outer layer in tree stand as much as inner.

I guess thin camo gloves would take care of that..but don't like to wear gloves unless no other option.

Lot of people like Asat, but good selections have always been hard to find.
