Clothing with hoods

I wear hoods when I am sitting, almost always. When I am moving I take them off. Asbell hoods are pretty well thought out, they are large enough so that you can fold or manipulate them to not screw up your side vision.

Hoods are fine as long as I'm not shooting a bow or gun.  When I turn my head to shoot, if I'm wearing a hood I get my left eye blocked.  Really messes me up.  I'll take a neck gaiter any day over a hood when I'm hunting.

Hoods are warm though so I use them for other activities.

I don't mind one while I'm not hunting, but no hood for me in the stand.

I can take them or leave them.  I always wear a watch cap style hat.  Wool or knit when cold,  KUIU or something light when its warmer.  I do have some hooded threads....the hood bunched up behind my neck is nice when its cold....but I get the same thing if I zip my collar up all the way .....coverage on the neck.   Hat and neck gator cover the rest.   I wont go out of my way to get a hooded garment.   And plus,  JMHO,  I think they encroach on my peripheral vision when in the up and on position as they are meant to be worn.

I get most of my stuff with hoods. I don't like the hood up due to restricted vision. I'm going to try the stocking trick Rik mentioned. With a toboggan and a hood around my neck it keeps me warm. If I need something on my face I have a Stormcloth baklava that is great. It is waterproof and windproof.

I don't like to wear hoods. I don't hear as well with anything covering or near my ears.

For me, the hood is wonderful for the back of my neck but I don't pull one over my head unless conditions get really bad. I wear other ear protection. I just can't stand a hood that interferes with my peripheral vision.

I only use them as a last resort and that's on the way home when hunting. Can't stand anything that interferes with my vision. I do like the warmth on back of neck the hood provides when laid back.

Hoods mess with my vision and hearing also. Lately, I have been liking wool "buffs" I guess they are like gaiters. They can also be pulled up over my face and nose for concealment and warmth. These are more flexible so I can make sure my ears and eyes are not impeded.

I won't buy a jacket for hunting w/o a hood. They come in handy every time I'm out, whatever the weather.

Wear a hat all the time but like others have said, my neck gets cold. A hoodie keeps me warm. I don't have to have it up all the time but I also don't have to find a place to stash it when I don't want it. Wind blows here and a hoodie helps me focus.
Besides I can be a gangsta.! (just kidding of course)

When hunting I don't care for hoods, blocks out a lot of my peripheral vision.  I really like my balaclava,  keeps my neck, face, ears and head all nice and warm and it's tight enough that it doesn't affect my vision.  It's also adjustable so I can fold it over as needed depending on the weather.

Most all of my hunting jackets have hoods, but I seldom use them. On brutally cold days, they do get some use, but most of the time I'm fine with a neck gaiter and good hat.
And don't let Prairie Dog kid you; the wind never blows around Casper!

Rather than a hood I'd prefer Asbell's jacket to come with a high collar that zips all the way up. That and a neck gaiter and good hat will keep me warm.
