Early Christmas.... the stories i wish it could tell
« on: December 20, 2012, 07:30:00 PM »
I received my Christmas present a little early, as it arrived today, a 1950's Bear Polar longbow, 66 @ 28, a classic piece of archery history for sure.
According to the seller this ole guy has been in the attic for many yrs. having been denied the joy of the outdoors and the thrill of the hunt, but for a mere $67.00 this ole guy and the quiver will finally be coming out of retirement.
The bow is structurally sound but needs a bit of cosmetic work, which it will receive in the near future.
Next fall you can expect me to be adding some new stories, which can be shared, to this old bows untold stories.

Cool, I wish you well with it.
I think I have its mate in my shop. I need to look at that thing again. I love OLD bows. the just feel right.

Seems no matter how old the Bear, they just never go out of style.
The nostalgia of the classic old bows, as well as there history makes them a joy to shoot and hunt with.

Nice! I had one once, should have kept it. If I remember right it had a dual shelf.

I'm watching Fred put the sneak on a nice bull elk in Wyoming as we speak.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

If it is a 62" AMO it would be a 1951 a 64" 1952 model.

Thanks Mr. Shanks for the info., its a 64 incher.
Since it is a 52 model, that makes it going on 61 yrs. young. I finally got to shoot a few arrows out of this ole guy, and it performs like it just came out of the box when it was new, needless to say it really impressed me.

That quiver brings back a lot of memories. Wish I knew what happened to mine!
