I'd be interested if NY had a trad Sportsman's license. Would make sense if some public land opportunities were open to traditional bowhunting or muzzle loader only.

Don't think it would work in Wyoming. Would cost too much with all the tags we can apply for. Imagine one license for elk, whitetail, mule deer, moose, bear, antelope.....etc. Don't think Wyoming would go for it.

I think some states would make more money.  For example I started hunting Elk in CO 5 years ago.  I used my compound bow.  Never got an elk.  Saw some and had a great time.  Problem now is I do not own a compound anymore and shoot a longbow.  I know my chances of shooting an elk are pretty slim.  In the unit I hunt it went from a $250+ cow only tag option to an ether sex tag for $560+ as your only option.  Why would I pay for a $560+ tag when I know I have a 98-99% chance of walking away empty handed?  So this last year I did not go.  CDW lost their $560 for the tag and the town lost my tourist $$ and I didn't go.  We all lost.  A true traditional archery tag should be half price in CO or we should at least have the option of buying a cow only tag when nobody else does.

Alabama is pretty good about keeping it simple. You buy your all game permit and just go hunting! Archery opens Oct 15th, and you hunt till Jan 31st with Bow, Gun, or a Spear.
The only other fees might be for special management hunts or Duck Stamps. Gun season starts around the 20th of Nov.
I never have understood why some states make it so complicated. Could it be the $$$?

I don't run trap lines anymore or go out calling with a rifle. Don't run coons with dogs. But I sure would like a chance at one of those furry suckers if I had the chance while out with my bow. I'm not going to purchase a fur harvester license for a chance thats remote to say the least.

Zombies are not considered game animals so no license is required.

If zombies are non game animals, then some states may outlaw hunting them! Lol. We should refer to them as an invasive species, in which there can be no regulations on bag limit, method of taking, or season dates.
All joking aside, I believe there should be a 'special' trad only hunting season, and further, it should start before all other seasons. At least in the areas with higher hunting pressure. And while I'm at it, I don't believe that cross guns should be able to hunt the entire bow season either, except for youth, seniors, and dissabled hunters.
If there is enough interest, and the state can earn additional money, then they might start to listen. Lets start spreading the word. Ps my experience in hunting laws and regs are limited to Michigan, so please keep this in mind. I have no intensions of fouling up good and fair regulations in other states.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

I hunt with traditional equipment because I like to.  I don't want to legislate that on others Remember, it is our choice.  Sure it is not fair, but heck that is life.  Hunt with the tools you choose and pass it on.  In the end that is all we can do.

Wes you are right ,bear slipped my mind.Really do not like that all hunting is not included as it is kind of like they changed the rules after people bought the lifetime .licenses.Sort of like the Social Security Administration.

That would imply my longbow or recurve is somehow less effective than a compound. It aint.   :bigsmyl:

Brazos,  you pay 500 + on a tag for the opportunity to go hunt the critters in the mountains of Colorado, something I cannot do in Wisconsin.

Nothing about a hunting license or even a high cost guide promises anything.

OK, how about a Hunter's Choice Tag..?

You can buy a combo license that is for pre-1800 weapons. All weapons must be made of like materials and replicate weapons made before 1800.

Said tag would be good for 3(?)animals of Hunter's Choice.
To include fur bearer, small game, deer, turkey, bear, elk.
With the woodland creature bear, elk, turkey, deer,  counting as two of your choices.??

I buy a sportsman's license here in KY and it covers all hunting and all types of equipment.  Works for me.

Our deer season starts 1st Saturday of Sept. and ends on the 3rd Monday in January (MLK Day).

I would not want or see the need for a trad-only season. It would be EXTREMELY destructive of hunter relations to even suggest kicking the compound hunter out of September.  In fact, if such a move began here I would be ashamed of my brethren.
