Harrison Siberian Wolf...Please Post PICS...
« on: December 24, 2012, 08:29:00 PM »
Hey all,

I was rummaging through the listings in the Classifieds last week, well I actually check them every day, but this day in particular I saw a listing for a bow that I have never heard of before, a Jack B. Harrison Siberian Wolf.

I looked at the listing and it is a gorgeous bow.  I don't think I have ever seen a bow quite like it.  The Beeler longbows look kinda like it.  Based on the comments from everyone that posted to that thread, the Siberian Wolf is one of the great longbows ever made and Mr. Harrison is a much respected bowyer.  I didn't find out if he makes bows anymore.  Based on the price of this one, I don't think I could afford one even if he offered to make me one special.

So I thought I would ask and see if anyone has pics of this longbow as I would like to see more of it and learn more about what makes it so special.

I hope there are those out there that have pics of the Siberian Wolf longbow on their system that they can post.  I would also like for those of you that know this bowyer and this bow, to please tell about it and why it is a special bow.

Thanks for the time.

Have a Blessed Christmas Holiday.

*Chuckle* You would have to shoot a Harrison, and a Siberian in particular to understand.

Smooth as butter, fast, and second to none for craftsmanship. If i remember correctly the limb design is based on Turkish war bows and hustles an arrow with no hand shock.

And no, Jack is no longer building bows, hence the cost of the one in the classifieds.

For a full history, look up LongbowLeo here (Leo Markert). He was Jack's representative for years in the lower 48, and knows pretty much everything there is to know. Plus he is an awesome gentleman to boot.

Whippenstick whipplash...same lines as the siberian and a better shooter. I've owned close to a dozen siberians. Contact Leo

I build a three piece bow called the Black Eagle that is very similar except that it is a three piece bow. This limb configuration makes a fairly fast but very easy to pull limb that is perfect for accuracy. I initially designed it to be a three D bow . When I saw the first Siberian I then noticed the similarity. The shooting characteristics of this bow are super.
As to a bow being made now I would bet that Kens Whiplash would be an excellent bow of this style.

God bless and Merry Christmas, Steve

very sweet bows. I had 5-6 of Jack's bows. Worth the money. - Jay

Ken at Whippenstick is building a new bow fashioned after Jack Harrison's Siberian.  It is called the "Whipplash."  I have one on order.  The bow is not listed on his website yet, but you can see pictures at Pirates of Archery / member products forum/ whippenstick / page 24 - 27 I think.
