signature/quote on bow rubbing off

Gent's I got a Sky LongHorn bow from a brother on here. He put a quote on the bow with a marker/paint pen. The quote seems to be fading or rubbing off. If I take some swipe on poly and rub over the quote will that seal the quote without hurting the bow finish. We are going to pass this bow around to fellow infantrymen so it will see many hands as time goes by. I donn't want to lose any history it may get.

It will either seal it or remove it entirely depending what the original writing was done with.
I use permanent Sharpies and Pilot (metallic ink) markers for cresting and the MinWax Poly wipes off the Pilot markers, so I put that on last over the top of the Poly coats.

Don't rub another finish over the lettering-it might smear.
Spray a real light mist, let dry then spray a heavier coat.
