snake skin limbs
« on: January 06, 2013, 09:50:00 AM »
I am thinking about getting some skins put on my zipper long bow. Any thoughts as to who can do it,how long would it take to get done and how much $. Also I got these limbs for my standard riser, and just can't get them to tuned as well as I would like. So I am looking for someone to check the tiller and, what ever it takes to get this bow tuned better, and also put some skins on it. Or should I just bite the bullet for some new limbs? Thanks Don

Call Bill Dunn, he’ll give you the best advice on his bows or recommend who can do it for you at a fair price.

Just a thought Don, I'm not sure I would put the money out to skin some limbs that aren't working for me.  It's not a ton of money and skinning your bow can be done by yourself.  That said, if they're not working you're only polishing a turd, no disrespect, just a saying we use at the firehouse.

If it were me I would get those limbs working for me first or get a new pair if that is what is needed.  Then I would skin them myself.  I skinned mine and it isn't all that hard.  I believe there are some "how-to's" around here that could help you along.  Good luck with your adventure.

A guy I shoot with at the range used snake-skin duct tape. Cheap, easy to apply, and actually looks pretty good! It was on an old bow of his that's seen better days, so he didn't mind trying "ghetto" snake-skin job just to see how it would turn out.
