Don Dow Stik bow
« on: January 15, 2013, 09:37:00 PM »
I just ordered a Don Dow stik bow LH 48lbs at 27 inches. I chose the green mountain camo riser, pecan and greenish/gray stained elm veniers, hard maple lams, and a walnut accent strip. To say i am excited would be an understatement, I would really appreciate any ones opinions on their Stik bows, and would love to see some pictures if any of you folks have any. I did a search not to much there. This will be my first r\\d longbow and first custom bow. I can't find any good pictures of one that is strung up.
Thanks Matt.

I also sold my compound and it's accesories to buy it, I'm going traditonal only from now on. You guys just made it seem like so much more fun, and when i started shooting traditional 5 months ago, i knew i wouldn't ever touch that wheel bow again. Thanks for that.

Don't have a picture, but I've shot a couple and for me it's the best buy out there.

I have one that is my go to bow right now.  It's 60", 53# at 28".  I forget the name of the color scheme.  I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow once I get off work.  I don't have a lot of experience to compare it to in the traditional world, but I am very, very happy with it.  It is a much better bow than I am an archer!

Best of luck with your bow!  Have Don send you some pictures of the build process.  I was fascinated to see it all come together.  He is a wonderful gentleman to deal with.

Thanks guys. Do any of you guys use fast flight on your bows? The one i ordered will be 58 inches. Not sure of what string length it will need. It seems i get less hand shot with fast flight.

I have a 54" 53 @ 27 Stik.  Nice quiet hunting bow.

Great hunting bow.

As promised, here is a pic of my Don Dow bow.  I hope the resize worked.  It should be 640 pixels wide.  Admins, if not, please delete and I'll try to fix it.  I had other pics, but the resize didn't work on those.

Thanks!

Thanks guys, those are great looking bows. Can't wait till she arrives. You guys are right, Don is a really nice guy. He answered all of my dumb questions no problem. I ordered my bow with a somewhat light draw weight but I'm sure i wont have problems with pass throughs with the right arrow broadhead combination. I would much rather be slightly under-bowed than over-bowed. 48-50 pounds is extremely comfortable for me. I can comfortably shoot 55 pounds or so in the yard, but not sure about it after sitting against a tree for 4 hours in cold weather. I've just recently started shooting traditional bows. I also have a beagle pup coming in a month or so. Hope to have him running rabbits next winter. Should i shoot some arrows while he is eating so he isn't bow shy?  :)  The beagle thing is also due to me reading this forum. Just looks like too much fun and i have always loved listening to them run a rabbit. Now if i can hit one with a bow. Again guys thanks for the pictures, although i think it might make the wait seem even longer. If any one has more, I'd love to see em.
Matt
