Never thought I would ask this .. Help on Carbons

OK, I have been a wood arrow guy as long as I can remember....
BUT, after reading a lot about carbons here and on the other trad sites, I have to ask some questions..
I am seriously thinking of trying carbon arrows out of my Bear Mag TD with first generation 37# limbs..
My arrow length is 29.5".
I am considering the following two shafts.
Easton Epics that weigh 6.4gpi
Beman ISC Venture that weigh 7.3gpi

I normally fletch with 5" LW Shields in a slight helical.  I am thinking that because of the thinness of these shafts I might have to go to a offset straight fletch, either that or maybe a 4" feather.
I am looking at these for mostly indoor target, but also some hunting occasionally when I need the lighter weight when my back is really giving me fits.
I picked these shafts for the price as well as manufacturer... I really don't want to go for my throat and not like them...
I am also curious as to the spine on the Epics they are advertised as being for 35-55# bows.. that is a hell of a range... would I need a lot heavier head for my draw weight... The Bemons are 500s which their site says is perfect for the weight and length I am shooting.
All advise will be greatly appreciated.

The Epic 600 should work out really good for you Griz. I'm shooting the Easton Excel 500 and Epic 500 out of my 53@28 bows cut at 30" with 145 grain points and they fly great.

600s would be much better for that weight bow.

3Rivers does not show different spines on the Easton Epics.... there is no choice

The only Epic they carry is the 600. At least that is the way I read the catalog. Best to ask them. The 600 is definately what you want though.

I tried the Ventures and can honestly say regardless of  the price they are a great shaft.  They are very forgiving and easy to tune.  You may want to hurry because they are just about out of them until next year.  However they are going to be selling a shaft called Beaman Hawks.  Several of my friends are shooting them out of all makes of bows and draw weights.

I bought Epic 600's from 3Rivers.  They fly great out of my 39# recurve with 125 gr points.  First carbon shafts I've tried that were underspined at full length.  I got to cut the shafts down to 28", which was nice.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it specifically...the number represents the deflection (spine).  I've never spined an Epic, though...someone may be able to chime in with the actual deflection.

Sound advice from above. At that poundage, the Epic 600 is the choice.

I would have to agree with the above advice about going with the epic 600's. They should fly great.
