Bowhunting...Really?
« on: January 17, 2013, 03:14:00 PM »
I got bored the other night and decided to watch a hunting show.  The bowhunter is a very popular guy and they were hunting elk.  During the show he had under 30 yd. encounters with more than 6 bulls but spent the entire time saying "that's not worth shooting", "that isn't the bull I came for" etc...on bulls all scoring more than 360"!  I truly was disgusted and I really don't know why.  I guess that's why I refuse to use trail cams for hunting because I feel that judging an animal that God gives me as being "good enough" isn't for me.  I've passed on animals many times because I wasn't ready to end my season yet but never because the animal wasn't worthy of my arrow.

Most of those shows are no longer about hunting and all about the horns. Sponsers probably have a bunch to do with it, all about money. Main reason I do not watch them anymore. I feel the same, if the good Lord offers me something I am gonna take it and I do not care if it has horns or not. Yes, I have passed animals because the shot did not feel right or did not get the right opportunity, but never cause it was not "good enough" and I never will.

I've heard it said that Christianity is a crutch.  To me, it's a walking stick to use on the path of life.

I dont agree either, i wanted to puke as one of those cats literally apolagized for shooting a "management" buck.

But hey, look guys, like it or not, we have to stick together. At least they are hunting, and not trying to take away your rights and guns.

I dont mean to step on toes, but lets also take into account the big picture here, dividing us is how they will win...and they know that.

I've never judged any animal with a trail camera other than "Present" or "Absent".

Hunting season must be over for a lot of folks....seems there's been a rash of tv show bashing threads.

I'm closing this one so maybe folks will get the message as this topic is not about Trad Bowhunting. The other's have been pulled or faded away.  Once the numbers of these increased, we started pulling them all...so I got to be fair.

One positive thing about the hunting shows....yeah, I agree and I can't hardly watch them, but they keep folks interested in hunting.....including kids.  If we don't keep them interested, hunting will go by the wayside.

Take care,
