Show your home-made cresting machines
« on: January 18, 2013, 03:01:00 AM »
So I opened the hunt for a cheap second-hand sewing machine. I want to make my own cresting machine from the motor. It must be foot-controlled, and I want to replace the pedal for a dimmer switch.

Any ideas that might help me?

Pics are allowed....  :p
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

There was a thread about a week ago on the subject had some great info on it.

I been working on one. I used a light dimmer switch and it wouldn't adjust the sew machine motor speed. I'm going to go get a fan speed switch today I'll let you now how it works. Mine is pretty crud I just center the sewing machine motor on a 1X4 then I put a small piece of wood at the far end with a hole drill in to fit the arrows im using I'll try to get pic's up later

You can use an outlet with a light dimmer switch before the outlet (cord from wall outlet to dimmer switch to plug in outlet) and them just plug the motor in. and the knob adjust the power going in. I have one my dad made for serving fishing rods.
