Are all Dacron strings created equal?
«

Excuse my ignorance everyone, but I've got a couple of non-fastflight bows and am in need of a string for each (a '73 and a '76 K-Mag).
I've experienced the difference that strings such as the SBD make on my fastflight compatible bows, but have never ordered anything special when it comes to Dacron.
Can anyone help?

Probably want to hear from the guys selling strings.
If you shoot Dacron with fewer strands it will be faster.
In some, cases extra strands can be put in the loops and the serving area to make it stronger where needed.

Well you have B50 and BCY B55 and BCY B500,B55 is suppose to have less stretch but is a larger diameter per strand compared to B50.For me personally for my few dacron bows I prefer an endless loop dacron over a flemish twist.I don't find a big difference in them,I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. There are some good string makers on this site that will build you a dacron string.

I have been making up 10 and 12 strand B50 strings for bows 45-55 lbs shoot much better than fat ones. Just make sure they don't have too much twist.

I also like endless loop strings on recurves that require B50. Not sure why but they just seem to perform a little better.

Thicker strings usually give more vib, so I usually stick with the lower end of recommended strands, yet keep it safe.

Go too low with strands of Dacron and it gets real difficult to get it to stop creeping

I like the B55 better then the B50. It stretches less and shoots really nice. Might even be a bit faster? If not, I have found the string to be a better all around experience.

Who made the string is at least as important as what it is made of.
SBD and Chad at Champion Bow Strings are exceptional suppliers,
