As a rule I have usually sought the heaviest wood shaft I could for hunting, even going so far as to dip and re-dip trying to get to a desired weight. With a 27” draw I would come up short of my desired weight using cedar.
I’m now rethinking this and going to look for light cedars and add the weight forward something like a 400 grain arrow and a 160 ++ head should give me good weight and FOC for my 57# recurve.
I have alot of 70-75 and 80-85 acme cedars ,which should give me plenty of spine. I also like to taper these shafts down, giving more FOC.
Has anyone started going this route?
