Real World Whitetails Icons (Don Higgins)
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:17:00 AM »
Picked up the book at the Illinois Deer Classic, got him and Mark Anthony to sign it, read some of it, got some very great info in it.

I am going to try and send the book to the rest of the authors to get it signed, anyone ever done such.

I love Rogers Rothaars yo have been snookered, boy is that not the truth.

One of the authors, Bobby Worthingdon, is a friend of mine. Hes a big buck killing machine ! Hes also got a couple of books out, Bowhunting mature whitetails and Quest for phantoms of the forrest. Both are good books, but Quest is by far the best ! The last chapter is simply awesome !
Genesis 21:20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. ->>>---------------->

I think it's a great book as well. Lots of material from a number of hardcore deer hunters. I also liked the Chapters by Alan Foster.

I got one from Mike Mitten and He was so kind to sign it to one of our daughters "Ande"...
Not only did he sign it but inside were three 9x11 glossy photo's signed to her as well...One photo of the biggest Black Bear I've ever seen ,another with both "Tree shaker" along side of "Twister" and Finally one with just Tree Shaker the two bucks He harvested on Nov.4th and 5th 2011!
Mike sent me the book so I had some good Reading material on our flights to another country 3 weeks ago when we adopted our 3rd child...
I still am in Awe with the kindness that Mike has givin to a complete stranger and for writing the sweet message he wrote to one of our daughters!
He surely is a true gentlemen and a Traditional Bowhunting Hero in not just my daughters eyes but mine as well...
Mike even touched the heart and soal of my wife with his thoughtful words to Ande and she has a keepsake for many years to pass down to her future Trad children and by that time Mike will be a "Legend"..
A great book and one to have in your Den or next to your nightstand..
Mike If you read this I shared the book with a guy from Arkansas that is a Correctional officer that I met at a Medical examination facility in that other country and wouldn't you guess it we both were seated on that 747 right next to each other on the way home on that 14 hour flight to Chicago and I had to look at 100 pics of some Big whitetails laying on tailgates from his I pad cell phone thing..
Well when he was all done showing me those photo's I reached up over my seat, grabbed my backpack carry on and Opened my copy of Real world record Icons and showed him your story and he began to read it and several others...
He looked at me and said 'That fella used a recurve to take those bucks"?
I said yes sir and he has many more and has one of the best footage of a moose hunt he videoed of a Monster moose that we all dream about hunting and he actually took the moose later in the video and words cann't express how Mike honored the bull as he knelt beside it and marveled how God created such a wonderfull creature...
I could of sold the fella one of those books if I had an extra copy  :campfire:

Finished a good portion of the book, every whitetail hunter needs to read this one, including fathers with young ones starting to hunt.

The part gene and rothaar wrote are my favorites just the straight up plain truth on what the huning industry is doing to America.

I think you can order it from Higgins, on his web realworldwhitetails.com, I paid 40 for it at the Illinois buck classic, it's 49.99 on his web site.

Is a great read,

Yes, both Gene and Roger were very candid.

Keefer- I'm glad you liked the book. Congrats with your new child. Mike
