WHICH A&H ACS handle do you prefer?
« on: February 05, 2013, 01:34:00 PM »
I ordered a new 14" all phenolic RC today from A&H, as they didn't have the ST available in a Lefty.

I currently own 2 14" ST's and love them, especially the metal risered one.  I also have a 16" RC, but prefer the 14" models.

Just wondering if anyone had shot both the RC and ST models and compared them??  If so, could you advise your choice and why??  :archer:

My preference is the 14" JK riser my son prefers the 14" standard riser. Haven't seen the need to try the others and happy with what we got.

Thanks Bjorn!  I still have my limbs that I bought from you a couple of years ago.

Is the JK much lower than the ST??

I like low grips on just about all bows. I like the JK best on A&H risers. I might have them make my next one a little lower than the JK even.

I could not tell you which ones I have especially with the pictures on the A&H site. I would like to try the recurve handle with interchangeable grips. There was a post a while back with pictures but I can not find it. One of the A&H workers posted it.

I like the metal riser. I shot the phenolic riser the other day and found it very nice too. I too am a lefty.

Jk is my favorite as well, but I have a vested interest.

fz:  As you know, the JK is a little larger in the throat of the grip than the standard riser.  Normally, it also involves reducing the heel by 3/8 inch, but Larry will take it down to 1/2 inch.  I have two like that and another on order.  Pretty hard to beat.

Buckster, I tried out the 14-inch RC at K-Zoo a week or so ago.  Very nice.  Didn't think I'd like the finger grips and thumb rest, but I did, plus the little extra wood in the palm of the hand really felt nice. A little lower heel than the standard riser, I think.  If you like a recurve grip, I think you'll like this one. A little beefier than their standard riser.

I've also owned the 16-inch standard riser.  That was very nice also, but I like small risers so the 14-inch works a little better for me.  Haven't had an opportunity to try the replaceable grip risers yet.

Thanks so much for the excellent feedback.  The guys are tops @ A&H & told me if I didn't like this grip, then they would swap it for another.

How cool is that!!???   :clapper:

I find the standard and rc risers to be comfortable and controllable. Personally I shoot a 16" RC riser.

buckster I have two Std 14" Cocobolo risers and love them. But I bought a new aluminum riser for a little more mass for 3D.I shot it with 64" limbs and wow I really like it.Now if I can get them to make me a osage riser that weighed the same as my new aluminum riser   :)  I love that black and osage.Keep us posted.

         Good Luck Meathook
