Hi all,

I sent Bohning an email asking about fletch tape on Minwax wipe on poly. this is their response

"I forwarded your questions on to our chemist. She said she has never tried Feather Fletching Tape on Minwax. Typically Minwax makes their stains to gloss coatings for things not to sick to it since it is typically for floors, furniture etc. She wouldn't recommend using Minwax with an arrow and tape. If you would like to try it and it works let us know.
Thank you,

Any thoughts on this, has anyone had good or bad results?

Fletching tape doesn't stick real well on the high gloss, but Iv' had no problems with it sticking to the wipe on satin.I also put a drop of duco cement on each end and the center of the feathers.I found Zinsser ultimate poly works much better.

No problems for me using Minwax wipe-on and tape.

I use minwax poly and have for years. I also fletch EVERYTHING with fletch tape. I have had no issues at all with compatibility or the tape falling off.... as a matter of fact, if i break an arrow and try to salvage the feathers-- the tape is a booger to pull off. That said, I live in GA. and we don't have exceptionally cold weather- that could be a factor for colder climates.

Wipe on gloss and tape in my first couple batches...no issues yet.

There may be some confusion between the Minwax stain and the Minwax Poly overcoat. I would guess lots of things would not stick to the stain, but would adhere just fine to the Poly.

Thanks for the info,

I responded to Bohning's answer and said that if they would like to send me a sample I would give them a report - they responded "no thanks"

Been using that combo for years, never had a problem. I also add a drop of Duco to the ends for insurance.
