Kansas Bow Hunters
« on: February 08, 2013, 12:01:00 AM »
Hey Guys
I have a few questions of anyone who hunts in Kansas. Not sure if you guys can help or not but Uncle Sam decided to station me here in central Kansas two years ago. I couldn't give up hunting so i found some public land my question is that there is a lot of state public land that is not listed under the kdwp website. Is there a more detailed map with all of the state land for Kansas any info would be greatly appreciated thanks guys for all of your information.

Welcome to the Sunflower! Google Earth is your friend for the best imagery. That has been my favorite tool for picking areas to scout.

Contact the KWL&P for a list of the Walk In Hunting areas. There are some pretty good places available for hunting there. I don't think the state parks allow hunting. It's become difficult to find private land to hunt on.
Hope you enjoy your time in Kansas. You might want to join Wichita Archery Club, which is near the base.

Hey I am not sure about a detailed list but there is the walk-in guide which lists all of them. Also shoot me a pm I know that there is another guy who is stationed at the base who also belongs to the club and he hunts alot of the public and does pretty well I could possibly introduce him to you....

I was stationed at Fort Riley in the 70's, hunted on post, lots of deer back then.

They have the walk in land maps on the kansas website. I dont know how often they are updated though.
I'm not a "deer" hunter, I'm a bow hunter that occasionally shoots a deer.

The walk in land changes from year to year as it is leased from farmers.
