Had a strange longbow experience today
« on: February 10, 2013, 07:14:00 PM »
I'm not a longbow type of guy but after shooting 3-D today a friend took out his mother's small longbow, 54" long and 38#. I didn't catch the brand but it was something like SAG, 3 letters middle being an A.

I had my grandkids' 1716 arrows with me so I flung some at 20 yards. The handshock or thump took some getting used to but basically I couldn't miss with it. It was smooth, relatively fast and shot very consistently.

My friend pulled it out of his mother's trash since she was throwing it out so I'm considering offering him some money for it mainly for my grandkids (or maybe me).

Any idea of the maker and value.

Only three letters?  I guess it is not "grail" then.

Doesn't sound good! Did your wrist go limb after shooting it? LOL
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Remember this was a very small light bow and hand shock is a misnomer, more of a thump felt in the hand. It was there but I got used to it quickly. Every longbow except one (Tsunami) I've ever shot had it to one degree or another.
