Beaver tails (how to?)

does anyone know how or has tanned\\treated\\or what ever you do to get a beaver tail from raw to a grip. I'm looking for some info of how to make a beaver tail grip, write from a raw beaver tail.

please help

I am doing my first one now. I skinned it clean and put it in a pickle with formic acid and salt. I will take it out, nuetralize it to a pH of 5 or so, then oil it with liquitan. This is how I do all my hides so I hope it turns out!

I believe Krista Holbrook  did a how to article in Traditional Bowhunter  magazine not too long ago.  Not positive which issue.

You might need to get a hand skive from tandy leather or make a leather spliter to get it thin also
