"Cy", not so slippery anymore...
« on: February 13, 2013, 06:41:00 AM »
Something I've been wanting to do for years, and finally got the nerve to do it the other day.

The "Guru grip" on my Kempf is great on the bows, but like any bow, it gets a bit slippery in hot weather. And in cold weather I felt I always had to wear a glove with some sort of "gripper" on them(leather or rubber).

Using the great "how-to" by "Tim" Golder, it was a piece of cake!

I didn't want it as "linear" as most I see, so after I got them all lined in, I took the bit and started working it around to give it more of a "randomized" look.

I bet I only have about 2 hrs total in the project.  I'll be doing my other bows as well.

I love the way it feels and wish I'd have done it years ago when I saw Tim's thread.  I'll go to the "how-to's" and bring the link here...

I can see myself really taking my time and trying do something "fancy" next time...maybe on "Bonita"

That looks nice Curt! Not sure I'd be brave enough to attempt that. Does look easy enough though.

Hey Curt that looks pretty darn good, just using a bit. I have always like checkering on a handle. But like MAGNUS, I am not quite that brave yet, but you have given me some food for thought. Thanks for sharing.

Curt well done, that stippling is fantastic finish isn't it.

I had a sample riser in my hand this summer fo a stippled grip, and really need to send it in.  You are a better man than I am to embark on that journey...

Nice job   :clapper:    :clapper:

Curt, more brave then I!  I'd have one eye closed and the other not open to do that on mine.

I hope that "crack" is a crinkly string from the rest material!

Curt I did my recurve this past summer, and was happy with it.  Nice job!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Looks really nice, Curt.  Is that just stippling with a soldering iron?

Great job.  How do you protect or maintain or retain such a great edge(s)?

Looks "free hand", was it?

Yes, Just free handed it.

Really pretty simple, especially if your not looking to keep the linear look to you "dots". On the edge, just be careful.
