With help from members!
« on: February 15, 2013, 10:48:00 AM »
Finally completed my bow makeover.  I've loved the way this bow shot since the day I received it.  I knew I'd be hanging onto it most likely indefinitely so I thought I'd spruce it up a little.  I'm happy it's finished and thought I'd share a few pics.

How I got it:

Added some skins soon after:

Stripped down the old glossy finish and added a satin matte finish.  Made a new flemish string.  Also finally got around to adding a beaver tail grip:

I gotta say that I would not have been able to do any of this without the help of this forum's members.  So to that I say a big THANK YOU!

A little over three years ago, when I joined this site.  In that time, I've learned so much from the members here.  How to cut/fletch/build arrows, tune bows and arrows, foot carbons, add snakeskins and refinish a bow, make flemish twist strings,  tying in nock points, and installing grips.  Maybe someday I'll spend more time in the bowyer's bench section and learn how to build my own bow.

You added some very nice personal touches to that bow. Great Job.  As to the bowyers bench, jump right in. But if you do you wont stop at just one...

Great job Matt. Got a few that I need to do but don't have the time. Those skins and grip look fantastic!

It's a Thunderstick Mag made by Jim Reynolds from Michigan.  It's a great little bow and an absolute pleasure to shoot.
