Tapered Surewood Shafts
« on: February 20, 2013, 05:35:00 PM »
Plan on making up another doz Woodies for my 52# Fedora. I like the barrel tapering that my present SuperCeeders offer. They come off clean...

Is it possible to get these Surewoods tapered on the nock end only to 5/16"? Anyone out there shooting a tapered Surewood?

I'm looking to get my total arrow weight to about 525-540 grains. My arrow length is 28.5" from inside the nock to the END OF POINT TAPER. Not BOP.

All replies welcome........

Surewood Steve is a sponsor here.  Give him a call and he will take care of what you need.  I just got in two more dozen tapered Surewoods last week.  They are running a sale right now in the sponsors classifieds on shafts up to 29" long.  You may be able to save a few bucks and use those at your draw length.

I just got 2 doz. in about 3 days. The best looking shafts I have got in a long time. Spine and weight are close on all the shafts. I took advantageof the sale on now in classifieds.

I shoot tapered Surewoods . . . but I taper the last 12" down to 5/16" myself.  They work well for me.

Do you taper your Doug Fir Surewoods with your Bowyers Edge in the photo you have posted? I have a Bowyers Edge too but was under the impression that Doug Fir does not taper well with a bladed tool?

Sorry for hijacking, joe skipp

thanks -

Kris

This is Surewood Steve, Snag and Surewood share the same taper sanding machine, so regardless who you get them from they will be the same.  I know there is lots if discussion on taper vs parallel, but think about this, look at the shape of an air plane or a bird, both tapers towards the back!!!  Well as long as we on this topic, birds and airplanes have wings, why shoot a arrow with out wings (feathers)???
