Zwickey Broadheads
« on: March 05, 2013, 07:36:00 PM »
Well I decided a few days ago on what broadhead I am going to shoot, since I made the switch to trad archery.  I decided on the Zwickey Eskilite.  Is there any thing I can put on them to keep them from rusting while in storage?  Thanks.

Whatever you put on your guns. There's a poll in the powwow but I couldn't locate it. Folks voted on what they used. I think Vaseline and Chapstick were the top two.

I use fluid film.....its what farmers use to put on their tractor accessories that sit out in the weather days on end.

Its lanolin....from sheep's wool.  You can get it at farm supply stores.

I like seal peal , the plastic like stuff that is put on cutting tools . If you know a Tool Maker or Machinist they might get you some . It is reusable and keeps a light film of oil on your arrowheads as well as keeps them from getting dinged .

Light coating of vaseline applied with Q-tip. Both vaseline and Q-tips have numerous other uses.

If I sprayed all of my broadheads with pam, my bedroom would smell like a fast food joint. The lanolin, farmers spray will keep a previously sharpened head, sharp until next season and if you don't get carried away, it is pretty good on feathers on wet days..

Yeah pavan....and it will get up in your bow or down in your safari quiver's slots and keep them coated.

I use Bore Butter or WounderLube 1000 plus for muzzle loaders. I then cover them with a leather broad head sheath. Cheap to use if you have it around. Absolutely no rust
